Nicole Battaglia
Nicole will be attending Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI in the fall. She will be putting her talent for fashion and clothing design to work in their fashion merchandising program. Besides her talent for fashion, Nicole was a valued member of the Westwood HS varsity cheerleading squad for four years. She also belonged to the Heroes and Cool Kids program where she helped mentor younger students and is also an active peer minister with her church. In her free time, Nicole also studies various styles of dance including tap, jazz, and ballet, modern and hip-hop.
Richard Panzer
Richard will graduate as the 2009 class valedictorian and pursue an engineering degree from Cornell University. Besides excelling at academics and being part of the National Honor Society, Richard was the president of the Interact Club and helped organize a successful food drive and Volleyball tournament. He is also a member of the Math Team and the Varsity Tennis Team. Rich is also an Eagle Scout.
Courtney Leigh Snyder
Courtney will be staying close to home while studying Finance at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Along with being an active member of the National Honor Society, she has also been the Vice President of the Student Council during her time at Westwood. Courtney was also chosen to be a member of Peer Pals and Heroes and Cool Kids. Courtney also has a passion for art and has won first place for a painting entered in the North Jersey Student Craftsman Fair.
Jamie Viapiano
After graduation, Jamie will be studying Athletic Training at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad for four years and was a member of the girls Softball Team as well. Jamie is also an active participant in Heroes and Cool Kids, Peer Pals and is a Youth Group Peer Minister. She is also involved with Girls Scouts and volunteers for the American Cancer Society and the Westwood Elks Lodge.

The Michael T. Wholey Foundation Memorial Scholarship |
This scholarship was created to honor the valor and integrity that Mike lived by each day. The scholarship is open to all Westwood High School Seniors that will be graduating in June and continuing their education at an accredited college, university or trade school. Two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded. All applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration. - Fill out the application in print. [Download PDF]
- Complete an essay describing personal achievements that you have obtained both in school and extra curricular activities that show a commitment to excellence, honesty, integrity and giving back to the community. You should also include what your future academic, personal and career plans are. Essays should be no longer than 3 pages, single-spaced.
- Provide a copy of a valid acceptance letter to one of the above-mentioned post secondary schools.
- Provide a copy of your High School Transcript and highest SAT score.
- Return all material no later than May 1.
